Every section below is taken from a real working Spec. The only thing that has been changed is the donor's identity.

North Star
To strengthen the practical capacity of rural communities in the American Northeast — specifically northern New England and upstate New York — to remain economically viable, environmentally healthy, and culturally distinct in the face of demographic decline and climate change.
Theory of change
Rural communities thrive when they retain the institutions that anchor daily life: working land, local schools, volunteer fire departments, libraries, town halls, and the small enterprises that employ people locally. Philanthropy is most effective when it sustains these institutions through transitions rather than replacing them with imported solutions.
Donor's voice — recording attached to “geographic scope”
“I want to be specific about why northern New England. My grandparents farmed in the Northeast Kingdom, and what I watched happen there over fifty years — the consolidation, the school closures, the loss of the Grange — that's the geography of this work for me. I'm not trying to save the abstract idea of rural America. I'm trying to honor specific places.”
This is one Spec. Yours will be different — different categories, different constraints, different decision rules, different agents, different succession structure. The artifact reflects the donor; the structure stays consistent.
